Instrument Panel

Completed Wigwag module installation and wiring.
Tested landing lights and Wigwag function.
Installed Anderson plug for charging the main battery.

Started wiring for the Razor Control Head.
Completed and fitted 15 pin D-Sub connector for the control head end.

Attempted to fit the PTT for the passenger into the instructors stick, however there are no holes in the stick to permit the wiring to exit the stick.
Instead I will fit it to the instrument panel on the passenger's side.

Completed installing backup battery tray.

Fitted Wig Wag module and started wiring the module.

Fitted snap air vents in doors and attempted to apply tape around the rim to tighten the fitment when closed.
The first attempt uing Kaplon tape was not successful. Next attempt was with pinstripe tape. This worked better so I will purchase more and fix both vents next time I am at the hangar.

Fitted ASV-2, EMS-2, AVMAP Ultra Efis and Razor Control head.
Completed hookup of USB chargers.
Tested backup battery and USB chargers.
I had to redo the crimped terminal on one of the chargers as it was loose.

Fitted panel lights, dimmer switch and USB chargers.
Wired up dimmer for panel lights and tested dimmer.

Fit bus bar to the W31 switch circuit breakers.
Complete wiring of backup bus and backup bus switch.

Moved bus bar along one circuit breaker so that the positive lead for the Razor Control Head can be hooked up to the circuit breaker.
I had to remove the Avionics tray then reinstall it after the bus bar was moved.
Tidied up a bit more of the wiring.

I tested an engraved Trolase label on a scrap piece of aluminium and placed a spare switch in the hole to ensure that when it is tightened, it does not cause any issues.
These labels should be fine.

Wiring for microphone sockets soldered and wires for DSUB 25 plug crimped and inserted.

Rivet avionics tray and install rivnuts for attachment to panel and installation of the earth bus bar.

Wired up Anderson PP45 plug with 10 AWG wire and crimped ring terminals.
These wires will be attached to the master and mag switches on the instrument panel.

Drill holes for switches and switch guards. Trial fit.
Drill holes for anti-rotation tabs using my 3D printed jig.
Deburr all holes.

Cut two more 3 1/8 holes for instruments in the instrument panel.
Ratchet handle made the job easier.
Also removed the cardboard insert so that the cutoff aluminium disk from the hole could be pushed out by putting a screwdriver through the hole in the hole cutting die.

Finished wiring for magnetos. Fitted Soft Start modules. Applied Loctite on screws holding the Soft Start modules.

Marked and cutout hole for 3 1/8 inch instrument using hole cutter.
It took a lot of force to cut through. A ratchet handle on a socket would have made the job easier.

Wing sail installation - Strobe light conduit

Removed previously installed conduit as it was not flame retardant.
Installed new conduit and cable tied it to trailing edge tube for both wing halves.

Engine Wiring

Tony Bell inspected the firewall forward wiring and advised on how to improve the routing of the wires. He also suggested fitting a battery isolator in the starter circuit.
After his inspection, I fitted additional insulation for the starter solenoid and improved the wire routing. I also put the sensor and magneto wiring in silicon sleeves to provide extra protection.
Tefzel cable ties were used to secure the wiring. An Adel clamp will be added to secure the main loom to the firewall.
