Author's Mule Design

The aim of this design was to provide a test platform for evaluating wing configurations, hence the name Mule.

The horizontal and vertical stabilisers are removable.
The wing support is also removable.
The wing support is held in position with carbon‑fibre tubes and can be swapped out for a new support to match different wing roots.

The majority of the structure is CNC‑cut balsa and plywood.
All fairings—including the tailwheel bracket, servo trays, wheel pants, and cowling—were 3D printed.
All fairings were printed using LW‑PLA filament.

The wing shown in the photos uses a Selig 8036 airfoil.
Washout: 2.5°
Dihedral: 2.5°
Incidence: 0°

Flying qualities are excellent; it handles well and remains stable in strong winds.
